Liv’sBestFriends operates on a model designed around positive reinforcement — using rewards and not punishments to modify your dog’s behaviour. We believe punishments are unethical, ineffective for long-term success, and ultimately undermining of your dog’s potential for growth and development.
We also believe that education, patience, and consistent, strategic behavioural interventions create the most powerful method for nurturing happy, confident dogs and owners.

I’m an animal behavioural practitioner, specialising in the training of medical alert and service dogs of all shapes and sizes. This work has taught me that any dog’s behaviour can be changed if you can figure out the root cause. Because every behaviour starts with a feeling — identify the feeling and you can change the behaviour.
Through Liv’sBestFriends I’ve been able to put together a professional network of canine specialists to address your dog’s needs holistically. And if, like me, you’re a neurodivergent individual, then you’re in the right place! We’re perfectly geared to work with people just like you, and those with other spectrum disabilities, as you connect on a deeper level with your pet dogs and service animals.

Liv’sBestFriends follows a target-focused process, which begins by identifying the challenges you and your companion are facing. This means observing your dog’s behaviour in context, taking into account their whole environment.
Next we will work together to create a focused plan, identifying specific, achievable goals and the necessary steps it will take to reach them.
Once we’ve worked through our set number of targeted sessions, we will review and adjust our approach if needed, or define a new desired outcome and plan further sessions.
This ensures that you and your dog are central to the process, setting you both up for success, lasting results, and a stronger bond going forward.
We are proud to bring canine education to schools and businesses with a range of workshops designed to demystify dogs. We create a safe and controlled environment to learn about potential risks, how to recognise and manage them appropriately. With Special arrangement we can offer services to clients in the Northern Suburbs too!
Short answer is YES! We certainly can help you prepare your family and home for your new canine companion.
While we can’t source a dog for you, we can, as part of a consultation, refer you to appropriate shelters or licensed and reputable breeders.
We do not provide dog walking services as part of our behavioural consulting practice. We can however put you in touch with some excellent dog walking services that align with our values.
While obviously not ideal, we do offer remote consultations, with the caveat that only so much can be achieved without in-person sessions.
We do not offer puppy classes, but we can recommend several depending on your location and circumstances.
